Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has spoken about Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola’s contract extension and the rivalry between the two, according to The Telegraph.
Regarding the fact that Guardiola has not yet negotiated a contract extension with Manchester City, Klopp said he did not know about it and joked that he wanted Guardiola to take four years off. Guardiola is the best coach in the world and has been proving it. Klopp says he respects it because when he sees talent in others, he always recognises it.
Klopp’s Liverpool have won just one Premier League title in their previous four seasons, the other three have been won by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. Klopp said he will not miss the rivalry between the two, and if Klopp is still working and Guardiola is on vacation, Klopp will be happy to have a drink and chat with him.
Klopp agrees that keeping up with City is the toughest job in football, but he’s a happy man and it’s fine for him. Klopp also said that although he and Guardiola are not friends and do not know each other, they respect each other. Outside the game, they don’t talk but have a good relationship, and in the game, they are rivals.
